For manufacturers of powders, granules, and bulk free-fall materials—including flour, spices, sugar, plastic resins, pharmaceutical powders, and animal feed—metal contamination poses a unique and costly risk. Conventional conveyor metal detectors cannot effectively inspect high-flow bulk materials, while outdated magnetic separators fail to detect non-ferrous and stainless steel contaminants. A single undetected metal fragment can lead to expensive product recalls, regulatory fines, and irreversible brand damage.
Shanghai Fanchi-tech Machinery Co., Ltd introduces the high-sensitivity gravity fall metal detector, purpose-built for free-fall bulk material inspection. With a compact vertical design, food-grade construction, and high-speed pneumatic rejection system, this model delivers reliable detection of all metal types (ferrous, non-ferrous, and stainless steel) in powders and granules, helping manufacturers worldwide meet strict food safety and quality standards.
Every structural detail shown in our workshop photos is engineered to solve the unique challenges of bulk material inspection:
The entire machine frame, inlet flange, and rejection mechanism are constructed from food-grade 304 stainless steel with a smooth, crevice-free finish. No sharp edges or dead corners where powder or granule residue can accumulate, supporting quick disassembly for thorough cleaning and full compliance with HACCP, FDA, and GMP hygiene standards.
The detection chamber is lined with high-strength food-grade polypropylene (PP) insulation, as shown in the photo with the white top and bottom plates. This design minimizes product effect interference from conductive materials like salt, sugar, and spices, ensuring stable detection sensitivity even for high-moisture or high-salt bulk products.
Equipped with a precision pneumatic flap rejector (visible with blue air lines), the system automatically diverts contaminated material into a locked collection bin within milliseconds of detection. The flap design minimizes good product loss during rejection, typically less than 0.1% of total throughput, making it highly cost-effective for high-value materials.
The space-saving vertical structure fits seamlessly into existing production lines, directly connecting to hoppers, mixers, packaging machines, and silos. Adjustable stainless steel leveling feet with optional casters allow for easy repositioning between lines, while the modular design simplifies installation and maintenance.
The integrated digital controller features an intuitive interface with multi-language support, automatic product learning, and real-time fault diagnosis. Operators can store up to 50 product profiles for fast changeovers between different materials, and the system logs all detection events for full audit traceability.

Midwest Grain Co., a leading flour and grain processor based in Iowa, USA, produces over 50,000 tons of wheat flour, cornmeal, and baking mixes annually for retail and foodservice clients across North America.
After conducting material testing and line assessment, we supplied 3 sets of our 150mm diameter gravity fall metal detectors to be installed directly above their packaging lines. We customized the inlet and outlet flanges to match their existing equipment and provided on-site installation and operator training via our US-based technical partner.
“We had struggled with metal contamination in our flour for years, and nothing worked as well as Fanchi-tech’s gravity fall metal detector. It catches every type of metal, wastes almost no product, and has given us complete confidence in the safety of our products. The ROI was less than 6 months.”

A: It is ideal for all free-flowing powders, granules, and bulk materials, including:
A: Yes. Unlike magnetic separators that only detect ferrous metals, our digital gravity fall detector reliably identifies all metal types, including iron, aluminum, copper, brass, and 304/316 stainless steel.
A: Yes. The entire detection chamber and rejection mechanism can be disassembled without tools for quick cleaning. The smooth stainless steel and PP surfaces prevent material buildup, making it suitable for frequent sanitation in food and pharmaceutical facilities.
A: Yes. We offer aperture diameters from 80mm to 300mm and can customize inlet/outlet flanges to match your existing hoppers, mixers, or packaging machines.
